Moving on a budget
Moving on a budget from Fort Collins, CO to Phoenix, AZ
Sometimes the cost of moving something is not worth the transportation costs. Take our situation for example.
You are coming into our story that has been going on for a while. We are in our early 50’s and we have had full lives, so catching you up would take a long time. So, you step in at the present time. We are moving from Fort Collins CO to Phoenix, Az and we are doing it in just our car. It’s not a big car. It’s a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville Sedan.

The trip occurs May 23rd 2015. We will post the details of the trip.
Here are the basics as we plan.
The trip is 920 miles.
The main route will be heading south out of Fort Collins on I-25 all the way down to I-40 in Albuquerque, NM.
We are leaving very early in the morning so we can avoid rush hour traffic in Denver and Colorado Springs. There is nothing along that stretch that we are interested in seeing, since we have lived in the area for a while. We are going to stop in Santa Fe, NM. My wife has never been there and we will need a break by then. We are planning on getting brunch in Santa Fe, NM. We will post a review.
Any suggestions as far as where we should eat lunch/dinner along the way?
I used GasBuddy to get an idea of what it is going to cost in gas.

Total Trip Cost
We plan on bringing food with us, but I know we will need a coffee and a hot meal or 2 along the way. And maybe a magnet from Santa Fe, NM. We are allowing $50 for food and a cheap souvenir along the way. After rounding it all up, we are guessing this trip is going to cost $140. Once we get there, our plan is to find a weekly/monthly place for a month or 2 as we find a longer term apartment/home to rent.
If you want to find out more, about either this trip or our relocation to the Phoenix area, please leave a comment.
